If a rider forgets to disconnect the coiled wire and dismantle a motorcycle, will the airbag be activated? |
A tensile force of about 30kg is needed to release the key ball to activate the airbag. Normally, the dismounting rider feels a strong tug to know that he/she has to disconnect the coiled wire before the airbag is activated. In fact, a small motorcycle or a scooter may topple over, if the rider forgets to disconnect the coiled wire before dismounting. Always disconnect the coiled wire before dismounting.
Once an airbag is activated and inflates, can it be reused? |
Yes, it can be reused if it has not been damaged. Replace the gas cartridge using the setting bolt and the hexagon wrench supplied with the Hit-air. If there is a damage to the airbag, ask an authorized dealer for a maintenance check.
Can I wash my jacket as it is? |
A jacket with an airbag and a gas cartridge fitted can be hosed but cannot be washed in water. Or remove the airbag system, linings and protectors and wash the outer jacket or vest only in accordance with the washing instructions.
Don't dry-clean.
? How to dismantle the airbag system
Can I wear a light backpack or something similar over a Hit-air? |
Yes, but be careful of its strap not to obstruct the free inflation of the airbag.
If possible, refrain from wearing them to avoid possible interference with the airbag to inflates |
If an inflated airbag is damaged by friction with the road surface in an accident, will it still be effective? |
The airbag inflates in full in 0.25 seconds to do its job, well before it is torn or damaged.
(S-System : about 0.24 seconds, Ordinary System : about 0.5 seconds)
Even before the airbag inflates in full, it is quite effective for shock buffering. After the airbag inflates, it leaks the gas slowly. |
